Facebook pages and F commerce - Facebook web sites.

I believe facebook has great potential as an e commerce platform. The fact that facebook has over 1 billion users is food for thought when it comes to envisioning the potential for f commerce. A few months ago, in my local area, there were some road works in progress. I noticed a large sign posted on the main street which provided more info on the road works situation. I was surprised to see that a facebook web site was listed as the web site to contact if anyone wanted further information and updates etc.

I had contacted the above facebook page to ask them why they had chosen to use a facebook page instead of a regular web site. They told me that they were impressed with the functionality of facebook and at how easy it was to create facebook pages. Facebook pages can be accessed just like a regular web site. They are also available to be viewed around the world by anyone with internet access, just like regular web sites. Facebook pages are also very easy to update.

Last week I bought a bottle of Budweiser from my local shop. I read the label and I was taken aback when I noticed a facebook page listed on the label instead of their main web site. The label read: ' join us at', and then the facebook web address was listed. Through my research, I recognized that facebook pages can be of benefit to small businesses which are just starting out and/ or that are not generating huge amounts of revenue.

I have a facebook web site which has my digital products and services available for purchase. I have recently opened a facebook page for one of my new projects: RI 22 Smart Pills. I did not have the funds to create a separate web site for this new project. I therefore decided to create a facebook page instead. In this page, I have placed my facebook web site address as a contact web site. I have listed one of my consulting services related to RI 22 for sale in my facebook web site. These two pages compliment each other. I have to say also that I am impressed with google. When I type in: RI 22 smart pills or RI 22 pills, through Google, my facebook page comes up on the first page under the first few headings. When the page comes up, RI 22 smart pills comes up first and then the rest of the facebook url appears.

Self Directed Learning is making its way into therapy.

Through my on going research conducted under School of The Remote Influencer - SOTRI, I have come to discover that self directed learning is becoming very popular not only in education, learning and development; it is now also being effectively utilized in psychotherapeutic interventions as well.

Here is a link to an interesting article which provides more info on Self Directed Treatment:

http://www.wsps.info/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=60

The self directed treatment which is described in the above article, is geared more towards mild or moderate mental health issues. In self directed treatment, the client or patient is given assignments to complete at home during their own time. These interventions have proven to be equally or sometimes even more effective than purely therapist controlled sessions.

In the UK, patients with mild to moderate mental health issues, may be given a prescription to read self help psychology books which can be obtained from local libraries, instead of taking prescription medication. This unique programme is called: Books on prescription. Here is a link to site which provides more info on this subject:

http://www.booksonprescription.org.uk/about-the-scheme

For people outside of the UK, you could research your area and find yourself suitable books to read through your local libraries As you will come to notice, the two web sites which are highlighted in this article, have incorporated self directed learning elements within them. New ideas can sometimes be modifications or improvements upon existing ideas. The books on prescription programme is based in part upon bibliotherapy.

Research is something which we can all participate in.

I have incorporated Remote Influencing (RI) into my consulting and learning, training solutions. RI enhances just about everything we are working on. I developed my RI system through a process of research and self directed learning, self experimentation etc. I am continually adding to the RI body of knowledge on a perpetual basis. My research will continue throughout my life. My RI body of knowledge is not set in stone and it has no boundaries and limitations.

Here are some definitions and views for the term 'research'.

  • Research is about establishing facts.
  • Research can take over your life.
  • Can be done in many ways.
  • Research uses everyday skills.
  • Research can lead you in unexpected directions.
  • Is a form of learning. Opens us up to new ways of learning.
  • Can be used in any job.
  • Is a never ending process.
  • Reading a factual book of any sort is kind of research. Surfing the internet or watching the news is also a type of research.
  • Research is a diligent search.

Basic or pure research.

Pure research, basic research, is research carried out to increase understanding of fundamental principles. It is not intended to yield immediate commercial benefits; pure research can be thought of as arising out of curiosity. However, in the long term it is the basis for many commercial products and applied research.

Basic research lays the foundation for future discoveries. The internet had originally started out as a basis research project. Yet, it has become one of the greatest inventions of all time. Inventors are well known for their insatiable curiosity. As you can see from the above definition for basic research, curiosity plays a big part in basic research. Curiosity is what drives scientists, inventors and even entrepreneurs. We are all born with it. However, as we become older, we are usually advised to deviate from our natural curious nature. I have awakened my curiosity and hope that you too can awaken this within yourself as well. It's a worthwhile endeavour.

Research can lead to new discoveries, inventions, products, processes and improvement in countless areas. Research is not something which only academics and scientists can initiate. It can be done by anyone. I would not say that I am an expert researcher. However, I am continually developing. I gained proficiency through trial and error and through an accumulation of time. With time, people improve. I would say that results are another motivating factor for me to continue with my research. When I started to see things happening, I gained a new perspective on research. My motivation is intrinsic in essence.

Offering Pro Bono Consulting services can be beneficial in many ways.

I did some independent, pro bono consulting work for my friend and associate a few days ago. I will provide some more of my consulting service for my associate on a pro bono basis as required. Here is a definition of pro bono: Professional services dispensed on a voluntary basis at no cost to the recipient - Investopedia.

I am offering my services on a pro bono basis at this present moment in time. I have the mechanism in place to accept payments for my digital products and consulting/training, coaching services. However, I will not be accepting payments for these products and services until I decide that I am ready to. I have personal reasons for not wanting financial rewards for my work at this juncture.

In these present economic times, one should creatively evaluate themselves and their abilities and work out ways in which we can either start our own businesses and/or do freelance consulting work. Nowadays it seems like job security is a thing of the past. With the current interest in the DIY movement, self directed learning, there are many ways in which a dedicated seeker can create opportunities for themselves.  There are a multitude of learning resources available, and the majority of these resources are available at no cost. Independent scholarship is another area which is becoming popular. The underlying theme within these areas is: Self Directed Learning SDL. Independent scholars are pursuing lines of research outside of academia and they are creating compelling work, as a result of being unconstrained by what they can learn and write about. Academic writing generally requires a narrow focus. Independent scholars pursue their areas of research with vigour. This is because they are free to learn about, research, explore and write about things which they have a passion and interest in.

I foresee more and more people participating in consulting and freelance work in the next few years and beyond. Don't listen to your detractors. I have had a few people questioning me in regard to my consulting work. These people tried to say that what I was doing was not consulting. Just because I am offering my consulting services in areas which are different from the areas that they are working in, does not mean that I am not providing 'consulting' services. I have worked at an e-learning and training company in Sunnyvale, California, USA, and I have extensive experience in training. Therefore, I am a consultant. My point here is that aspiring consultants should not be swayed or influenced by the negative things which the detractors have a habit of saying.

Here are just some of the benefits of offering pro bono consulting services:
  • Helping others. You will feel a sense of satisfaction knowing that your work is helping others.
  • Gain experience.
  • Testimonials, recommendations, referrals.
  • Gain more confidence.

We all have knowledge, skills and experience. There are businesses and individuals who can and will benefit from your knowledge. Don't worry too much about creating business plans. There are numerous examples of hugely successful business which started without business plans. Facebook started out as a project or hobby, Mrs Fields cookies initial business plan was to make and sell cookies. There are other examples. Please feel free to google this area for more info. Be bold, adventurous and creative and get started with your consulting, freelance opportunities.

Christina Robinson, an actress worthy of more attention.

While living in Sunnyvale California several years ago, I did some amateur model and talent scouting for a talent scout in San Jose, California. I have always been interested in movies and talent in general. I can spot talent and I can sense the potential in actors and actresses. Actors and actresses not only provide us with entertainment, they can also be role models and conveyors of important social messages. After all, they are in the public spotlight and they are seen by many people.

Here are a couple of photos of Christina Robinson:

One actress whose performance I have been very impressed with recently is Christina Robinson. Christina acts in the hit show Dexter, which airs on Showtime. In the show, Christina portrays Astor Bennett, the step daughter of the main character, Dexter Morgan. Dexter originally aired in 2006 and it is sadly coming to an end after it's eighth season, which premieres on June 30th 2013. In the show, we have seen Christina growing up from a young girl into a teenager. Christina has acted well in every episode she has appeared in. However, in my opinion, she has provided us with stellar performances in Dexter season 5 episode 1, Dexter 5 episode 9 and Dexter 7 episode 8.

In Dexter 5 episode 1, Astor  learns of her mother's death after returning from vacation. She displayed a vast range of emotions in these scenes. For an actress of such a young age, Christina is blessed with noteworthy natural talent. In general, Astor has been portrayed as a straight laced and proper girl. However, in Dexter 5 episode 9, 'Teenage Wasteland', Astor has grown or evolved into a rebellious, punk like character with sensitivity and raw emotion. Some of her facial expressions, things she said were priceless. In Dexter 7 episode 8, 'Argentina', Astor has grown into a beautiful young lady. In this episode, Astor has become a pot smoker and she has verbal tussles with her brother in the show, Cody.

After watching these shows, I sense Christina has great potential as an actress. Casting directors and movie, powers to be, should watch the above episodes and see for themselves, the talent and potential which Christina has the capacity for. Christina could have been cast for shows such as ' The Vampire Diaries', 'Helmlock Grove'. Likewise, Christina could have acted in the Twilight movies or movies along those lines, plus she could act in a variety of different roles. The sky is the limit for Christina.

Actresses such as Dakota Fanning and Jennifer Lawrence have become movie stars after acting in tv shows. Dakota Fanning acted in ER and in the Steven Spielberg show, 'Taken' in 2002. Dakota received three movie parts in 2002. I am sure this happened in part as a result of her performance in the 'Taken' tv show. Jennifer Lawrence began her acting career in the tv show, 'The Bill Engvall show'. Christina has acted in the hit show 'Dexter,' and I sense too that she can also achieve success in motion pictures.

Here are two links to videos from Christina Robinson's Youtube page:

The first video was created by Christina and her friends. It is not from the show Dexter. This short video displays Christina's youthful and exuberant personality. I can foresee Christina acting in MTV shows and shows from different genres also. She has numerous talents.

I thank my friend Jason who lives in Los Angeles, California and my other friend David who resides in San Jose, California. Jason and David have helped to re-ignite my interest in talent promotion once again. The cool wording logo for Christina Robinson was designed by my graphics guy Mr Keen.

My new Facebook page for my RI 22 Smart Pills concept.

I opened a new Facebook page for my RI 22 Smart Pills concept on May 13th 2013. I do not have the funds to create a new web site for RI 22 and so I therefore opted for the Facebook page instead.
I liked the fact that I was able to choose my own unique facebook URL. It's similar in ways to having a unique domain name. That's how I see it at least. The facebook pages function like web sites to some extent. These pages can be accessed worldwide by anyone with internet access and they can have their own unique URL's as mentioned above.

I placed my facebook website URL into the info page for my RI 22 smart pills page. These two facebook pages can help each other. They can work as a team with a common cause. I am also impressed with the fact that visitors accessing the site do not have to have a facebook account in order to view the info in the facebook page. They can also visit the facebook web site if their interest has been piqued. The added advantage of the facebook web site is that visitors do not have to have a facebook account in order to gain access to the web site either. These facebook pages and websites can also help to attract new facebook users. Which in turn, helps to increase the facebook user base.

Another impressive benefit of facebook pages is the fact that the page or pages can come up in the first page under Google searches. For example, when I typed in RI 22 Smart Pills through Google, my facebook page was found in the first page on about the fifth entry down. The page was listed with the words RI22 Smart Pills and then the facebook name. In other words, the highlighted focus words for this search were: RI 22 Smart Pills.

The fact that facebook has over 1 billion users is impressive to say the very least. Facebook pages and facebook websites can be easily shared among facebook users. These pages and websites can grow virally as a result of facebook referrals and recommendations. I read a few days ago that many businesses are receiving more exposure and visitors to their facebook pages instead of their regular websites. This is all food for thought. Create Your own Knowledge Base for Business and Personal Use.

I have added the concept of the Knowledge Base into my ever growing and evolving personal development tool-kit. As you know, I have incorporated my Remote Influencing (RI) practices into my business and personal life. I am using the Knowledge Base idea with my Remote Influencing work and vice versa.

What is a Knowledge Base?

A knowledge base is a special kind of database for knowledge management. A knowledge base provides a means for information to be collected, organized, shared, searched and utilized.

I view my home as my knowledge base. This is where I conduct my independent research, learning and training. I store the information that I find on my pc's, flash drives, cd's, dvd's, external hard drives and any other device or devices as needed. I add information to these devices on a continual basis. My knowledge base is growing, evolving, changing over the course of time. My Knowledge Base is not dogmatic in nature and it is not set in stone. My knowledge base is organic in essence. However, I have also come to realize that my knowledge base can and will extend into external areas such as life and living itself, libraries, schools, colleges, the web and any and all areas as deemed necessary.

I create folders for specific areas and I manage these folders to make sure they are in order. I have also created a folder for my ideas. I will elaborate. I document any new and uniqe ideas, insights I may have. I place these documents into the 'my ideas' folder. These ideas share my intrinsic knowledge. I regularly review this folder for inspiration etc. New ideas can come to life through the blending of several ideas. I share the knowledge from my knowledge base so as to help clients, friends, family etc.

I hope this information has proved helpful to you. Creating ones own knowledge base can be highly rewarding and beneficial for oneself and for others. Knowledge is power and knowledge should be shared with society.
