Human Resources HR Learning and Development consulting through Ato Consulting Dot Com.

I recently opened a new Wordpress blog site for my Ato Consulting Dot Com boutique HR learning and development consulting firm. I had been running a Facebook F-commerce site for several years. I closed that site down due to a lack of business coming in. I have no complaints about Facebook web sites. In fact, I think that they have great potential. I might create a new Facebook web site again in the future. I am still running a Facebook group sales page for my digital download products and services. I have written about this page in a previous post.

Here are a few definitions of the term Human Resources HR.

William R. Tracey, in The Human Resources Glossary defines Human Resources as, "The people that staff and operate an organization … as contrasted with the financial and material resources of an organization."

Human resources evolved from the term, personnel, as the functions of the field moved beyond paying employees and managing employee benefits. The evolution of the HR function gave credence to the fact that people are an organization's most important resource.

People are an organization's asset. Employees must be hired, satisfied, motivated, developed, and retained.

Human resource management is a contemporary, umbrella term used to describe the management and development of employees in an organization. Also called personnel or talent management (although these terms are a bit antiquated), human resource management involves overseeing all things related to managing an organization’s human capital.

As you can glean from the information above, people are the source of an organization's success or failure. The development of employees covers vast areas. It needs more importance attached to it. I have seen first hand how powerful Self Directed Learning can be. Once Remote Influencing (RI) has been added to Self Directed Learning, you will see how far an organization can excel. I have conducted extensive research to validate the aforementioned learning and development solutions. It is now my mission to share this knowledge with the world.

Facebook's potential as a learning platform.

Facebook has great potential as a learning platform. I run an online school through Facebook, School of The Remote Influencer - SOTRI. I came to discover through my research, that I had been implementing a form of distance education via the aforementioned school page of mine. I have helped students from countries as far afield as Africa and the USA through this page. The students corresponded with me via Facebook e-mail and via their personal e-mail addresses in order to submit their assignments and to receive feedback, evaluation from me.

I have seen learning happening through regular Facebook personal pages too. For example, I have read quite a few interesting posts which my Friends had posted through their pages. I researched some of these topics in my own time as a result of having my curiosity tweaked.

A great example of learning via Facebook.

I had signed up to an interesting personal development, spirituality, self-help page through Facebook. The page is named 'The study of Reality'. It is run by a talented entrepreneur named Lisa Vaz. Lisa runs a few successful Facebook pages. I have seen some enlightening videos through The study of reality page. Lisa and some of her group members have submitted their videos too. This page is quite new. However, it already has over 600 members. I envision more and more educational services being offered through Facebook over the course of time. Facebook search for business pages.

I learned something new and powerful about search functions that are available through Facebook. This discovery came to me through a process of trial and error with a touch of curiosity thrown in. I have a few Facebook business pages as most of my blog fans are aware. I also have a Facebook organization page.

I typed in: 'Digital Products' through the Facebook search button. I was glad and surprised to see my Facebook digital download products page showing up in the search results page. I had thought that one would have to have typed in the full name or at least a close name to the business or organization page they were or are searching for. This search feature can be an effective sales and marketing tool. It can help to facilitate the close of sales. I am sure that this feature can only keep improving over the course of time.

Online activism and e-businesses can indeed be very effective.

I will be doing some online activist work via my web sites. I am new to activism. However, I have been doing some activist work online for a few years now without even realizing I was doing activist work.

I don't know why online activism does not get the recognition that it deserves. Terms such as 'slacktivism', 'armchair activists', and other derogatory terms are given to online activism. If many people around the world were to do such work, surely there would be some positive results manifesting themselves.

Just because this work is done by using clicks of a keyboard, does not make it any less 'real'. If used properly, online activism can be a powerful tool for change. It can reach many more people around the world as many people across the world have internet access.

I would like to ask the people that say online activism is not real, whether they use Facebook, Twitter, Linked-In, Google Plus, and whether they buy things online via sites such as Amazon, E bay etc. The aforementioned businesses are all run online. They are e-businesses. I am sure that the critics in mention, would say that they do use the e-businesses that I had listed in my question. They probably use quite a few e-businesses for their purchases. Why the hypocrisy then?

I aim to show that online activism and e-businesses, are in fact 'real' and that they do in fact, work. I think the critics look upon physical, brick and mortar businesses, and physical brick and mortar activist organizations, as being 'real'. The critics need to get with the times. Technology will only keep improving over time.

Collecting research data is my hobby.

In the photo above, you will see one of my USB flash drives. It is a 16 gb flash drive. I have been collecting research data, mainly secondary data; however, I do have some primary research data in my collection too. I create folders for my data. I have made several back ups for my research data as a way of ensuring that I do not lose any of this data. I use PDF files for the research data I have and still am collecting.

I would say that this is a hobby and it is part of my independent research work too. Through my research into hobbies, I have learned that one can gain knowledge and skills through hobbies. These would be classed as transferable skills. When I first began my collection, I did not know about data collection. I believe I was naturally drawn to this activity. I have hundreds of research files stored onto my storage devices. I am adding to this collection on an ongoing basis. I study the research files and I make connections between the various files in my collection. This can be a rewarding experience. For example, one of my new proposed business venture ideas came into being as a result of my data collection practices: Way of The Remote Influencer - WOTRI: wotri.org

I did not set out to create WOTRI, it just happened. New discoveries can be made through basic research endeavours. This was certainly the case when it came to the birth of WOTRI. I have been learning many things through my hobby. As mentioned earlier, I did not start my hobby with the intention of making financial gains. In regard to learning, I have learned a lot about personal development during my research pursuits. I noticed that research isn't one of the hobbies listed in web site Google searches. The closest things I could find to research were reading and writing. I hope more people consider undertaking research as a hobby. My hobby doesn't cost too much to participate in. I am paying for my broadband service as it is. I do most of my research online. However, I do use library books too. In the photo below, you will see a gentleman displaying his collection of vinyl records. This type of a hobby requires quite a lot of physical space. I am not knocking this hobby by the way. What I am saying though is that research file collecting does not take up much physical space at all. It is environmentally friendly too.

In the photo above, you will see an example of PDF files that have been stored onto a PC hard drive.
These files do not take up physical space as they are stored in your PC, and/or external storage devices. When I attend social and/or business events, I will slip my unique hobby into the conversation/s I am having. I can also show people one of my USB flash drives and highlight the plus point that this hobby does not involve much in the way of a financial outlay to participate in. The other plus point is that it does not clutter up your home or office with space taking physical products.

Here is a link to a web which specializes in hobbies.

Please scroll down and search for the comments. I had made a post about my research data collection hobby.

New applications for Portmag - Portable Magnetic Keyholder.

I bought a new Portmag keyholder a few days ago. You can see it above. It is the one which is sticking to my fridge. If you look carefully, you will notice that my key ring has two split rings on it. I bought some new split rings through E bay. I found that the original split ring was too thick and heavy. Whenever I used to use the original split ring on Portmag, I found that the ring was joining to the magnet in quite a violent way. I therefore decided to use the new split rings instead. The choice is yours.

Portmag is my invention. One of the definitions of the term 'invention,' is: A new use for an existing material. The actual product is a neodymium magnet that has an epoxy coating applied to it. Hence the sleek look of the product. I was the first person in the world to have used the said product in the highly creative ways as described in my blog posts. I will provide a link to my original posting a little later in this article.

Portmag is a very strong magnet. It is small yet powerful. I was impressed with it's strength. I have found a source for Portmag. However, if you are interested in purchasing Portmag, please contact me directly.

The 2nd version of Portmag is the large metallic covered neodymium magnet as seen in the photographs above. In order for this version to work on a mortise plate of a door, you will need to check if the the mortise plate is big enough first.I usually take this version off as and when needed. It is not a permanent solution. Which happens to be one of the main benefits of Portmag.
